Almond Meal is easy to make with little effort. I usually make in 1 kg batches to make it easy. Get good quality almonds for good results.
Everything homemade is always worthy. I always prefer to make everything from scratch. Store bought once are also good, but preparing it fresh by our-self makes the baked goodies more yummy. Also saves some money.
Boiling the almonds, and then running it through cold water will look like this as if the skin is separated from the almonds. Then it will be easy to pinch and remove the skin.
After removing the skin, roast until all the almonds are dry without any moisture. Mix it while roasting, careful not to get it burnt.
Almond Meal/ almond flour is used in many of my recipes. Its time consuming process but worth making almond meal in home.
- 1 kg Almonds
- 1 lt Water
First is to remove the skin of almonds. Bring water to boil.
Add in almonds. Keep a strainer ready.
After 5 min, just strain it and run it through cold water.
To remove the skin of almonds, just pinch it in between the fingers.
After removing the skin, place all almonds in a baking tray and toast it till dry.
Let it cool to room temperature or leave in the oven for a day, grind it in a dry mixer grinder.
Don't pulse it more than 3 min, it will become buttery. Almond meal can be stored in air tight container.
Pulse the almonds not more than 3 min. Grinding the almonds more than that will make almond butter.
