We were also slightly bored of having raw cherries all the time. Me and my family always crave for new recipes. So, I started hunting for cherry recipes. Only then I found this incredible, elegant way of making use of my beloved cherries. Cherry in Red wine Syrup was my solution!
Have you ever seen cherry and wondered how gorgeous the color is? But, I bet you didn’t know that deep red color is helpful to you. Guess how? Cherries are good for the health of your heart, helps in reducing belly fat and cholesterol. Isn’t it awesome? We totally love eating cherries and now we got a reason for it! Cherry in Red Wine Syrup
Ingredients
- 1/2 kg Fresh Cherries stemmed and pitted
- 1/2 cup Sugar
- 1 + 1/4 cup Red Wine
- 2 tsp Corn Flour
- 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 2 tsp Red Chilli flakes optional
Instructions
- In a heavy bottom sauce pan, place the cherries and sugar.
- In a small bowl, mix 1 tbsp Red wine with the corn flour until no lumps.
- Add rest of the wine to the saucepan.
- Bring it to boil and let it simmer until the cherries are soft.
- Just before removing from heat add in the corn mix and stir well.
- So that the syrup thickens a bit. Boil it for a minute and remove from heat.
- I made 2 flavors out of it - Vanilla and Chilli.
- For just Vanilla Flavor - Stir in the Vanilla Extract and let it cool.
- For Chilli Flavor - Add in the Chilli Flakes and simmer it for 2 more minutes.
- Once they come to room temperature, store it in clean glass jars.
