Decorating these cookies along with my 6 year old son was definitely amusing. Its true that children don’t need fancy to have fun.

There couldn’t be a better Children’s Day celebration without special munchies and some fun games right ??

So Right here is a gluten free fun snack, the best you could bake for you kids.

Its always nostalgic to think about lovely childhood days, waiting to dress up as our favorite characters and eagerly  waiting for the snacks we would get back at school. Ahh.. the good old days !!

Donut Cookies Gluten Free

  • To make the dough, add the sugar and egg into a mixing bowl and combine well.
  • Now add the melted butter, vanilla extract, salt, baking power and sifted flour.
  • Knead and form the dough on a clean surface.
  • Spread the dough evenly using a rolling pin.
  • Using a donut cutter or circle cookie cutter make donut shaped cookies.
  • Place the cookies on a baking tray.
  • Bake in a pre-heated oven for 15-20 mins at 180 C.
  • Cool the cookies on a wire rack.

DONUT COOKIES GLUTEN FREE

Eye catching Crisp Donut shaped cookies with royal icing and sprinkles
Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 30 minutes
Total Time 40 minutes
Course Dessert, Snack
Servings 4

Ingredients
  

  • 3/4 cup Butter
  • 3/4 cup Castor Sugar
  • 1 Whole Egg
  • 1 1/4 cup Jowar flour
  • 1 cup Rice Flour
  • 1/2 tsp Baking Powder
  • a pinch Xanthan gum
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions
 

  • To make the dough, add the butter and sugar into a mixing bowl and whisk well.
  • Now add egg, vanilla extract, whisk together.
  • Add in salt, baking power, xanthan and sifted flour.
  • Knead and form the dough.
  • Refrigerate for an hour.
  • Roll the dough between 2 parchment sheets.
  • Using a donut cutter or 2 circle cookie cutter make donut shaped cookies.
  • Place the cookies on a baking tray.
  • Bake in a pre-heated oven for 15-20 mins at 180 C.
  • Cool the cookies on a wire rack.

Cookie Decorating

  • Decorate the cookies with royal icing sugar of preferred colors and designs.
  • Add sprinkles on top.
